This Girl (unlucky)

"I can't Richard I love you, I do. But I can't!" Blake closed her green eyes. She looked down and shook her head.

"Just take it, please." Richard begged her. "There is no one else to use it. I got it for you please just... Take it." he handed her the ring. "It doesn't mean today or tomorrow, or even a couple of years. I just, hope it can happen one day. Please, Blake."

"But I'm not pregnant! You don't have to, you don't really love me... Do you?" she asked.

"I know your not pregnant, damn it. Yes, yes I love you very much and if you would stop trying to distract me. Please just give me a straight answer." he said.

"I can't." Blake shrugged and ran.

Chapter 1:

Blake was at a party, now seventeen years of age and single. The party of course consisted of everyone making out, having sex in the spare bedrooms or getting drunk and or high. She sat there, taking the cigarette out of her mouth, her fingers shaking, and pain running through her veins. Abuse, an ugly word that meant mistreated something she had been. Jennifer drank herself to sleep that night, and her boyfriend that was a good seven years older than her had tried to rape Blake, she resisted, and he hit her.

Blake entered the room, Jen was passed out, her shirt still on, her pants were gone, but her underwear was still on, her knees dangled over the edge of the bed. She was still wearing her gladiator high heels. The room was dark; Blake had just gone in to get Advil. She hadn't seen the man her mother had brought home, Sareal, was his name, right?

"Mom?" Blake asked walking over to her mother, just to make sure she was still breathing. She checked her pulse, still breathing; Blake covered her mom with a blanket.

"That slut is your... mom?" the man from the corner slurred.

Blake turned almost so fast that she almost got whiplash. "Don't call her that." she shook her head. "She's my mother. Get the hell of out of my house, before I call the cops."

Sareal grabbed Blake's wrist, and threw her against the wall, opening her legs with his. "What makes you think I'm leaving?" he asked, then pinned her, he started to unbutton her pants. “I’m just getting started, with the slut’s daughter.” He laughed.

"Let go of me! Don't touch me!" she fought, trying to move her arms and kick him. She tried to bite him. He had gripped her chin and forced her to look at him. He’s pressed his lips hard against hers. Blake thrashed her head all over the place, trying to get him to let go of her. She heard her zipper go down, or worse, his. He started kissing her neck, pushing up her top; she tried to push against him to drop her. He let go of her shirt and threw her against the wall, causing her to hit her head. She screamed, and he made the mistake by putting his hand by her mouth to keep her from screaming even more. His palms were sweating, and forceful pressing his palm almost into her mouth she sunk her teeth into it, drawing blood. He howled and hit her, blood squirted out of her nose, and her head lulled back.

"Bitch!" he yelled, hitting her again. She sank to her knees and fell face forward. Sareal kicked her, bruising her ribs. He kicked her over and over. Blake was gasping for breath, her body jerking, she felt like her heart had dropped into her stomach. Sareal had bent down to his knees and laughed at her, he had the satisfaction that she was in pain. “You stupid little bitch,” it sounded like a slur mixed with a growl, “I could have easily worked both of us over, you would have loved it.” With that he got up and walked out of their house, slamming the door.

Blake opened her eyes, she felt tears start to stream, when she cried her nose never got red, her cheeks never flushed. It just looked natural when she cried, and sometimes even beautiful. She blinked them back. Her cell phone rang. She fished for it in her pocket. It was Simon, what the hell did he want?

"Hello?" she asked trying to sound annoyed, the music blarred, causing her to go outside.

"Sweetheart?" Simon asked.

"Yeah, Simon, I think you have the wrong number, this is your daughter." she snapped.

"Which one?" he joked. Simon had no other children.

"Blake. OK Simon, what do you want?" she asked. "I don't have any money, I'm not going to give mom a message for you, and I really don't care how your job is going. I'm a little frustrated right now." Blake wiped her eyes, not sniffling.

"I never ask you for money." he said, sounding angry.

"I know, but mom does."

"Sweetheart, I just came back from rehab and I quit doing drugs and I have stopped drinking." he said, Blake had heard that one so many times, he had been in rehab about five or six times.

"That's great, Simon." Blake said getting a little side tracked by watching a couple groping each other; it made her want to puke. The sickening image rushing through her mind.

"I thought so. I also wanted to tell you, I have just got married. I really want you to meet this one, Blake."

Blake closed her eyes, her father was thirty-nine, he had bright green eyes, like her, blonde hair and he was tall, pale skin, very athletic, before he had gotten into drugs, he was captain of the football team and he always set new records in track. That was type of teenager he used to be. He had been married at least three times, making this other girl he was talking about his fourth.

"What's her name?" Blake asked, her throat growing tight with pain.

"Her name is Karen. I think you'll like her, in fact the reason I called... I wanted to invite you down to California for a couple of months. I think you'd have a lot of fun."

She bit down on her lip. "I'll think about it." she said, taking another drag, then she threw it to the ground crushing it with her sneaker.

"I'd pay for everything. Karen would even take you shopping." he said.

"Yep." she said, now wishing her phone would die.

"Think about it, Blake. You might have fun down here. I mean there are plenty of schools, malls, beaches, guys, girls whatever you’re into."

"Pot." she muttered.

"Excuse me?" Simon asked he hadn't heard what she said.

"I'll think about it." she said, she bit down on her lower lip; she licked her lips and tasted rust, the taste of blood.

"Great, goodnight sweetheart." he said.

"Goodnight, Simon." she said and ended the call. It was the most awkward thing, talking to her father; of course she wasn't going to go! She had a job; she had to take care of her mother. She was the only working, her mom never really left. Blake worked at a local elderly hospital. She wasn't anything big, but she read to patients, she cleaned and she took food to them, and talked to them, she loved listening to their stories about world wars, their romantic tales, and their heroic history. So she couldn't just leave, her father was crazy! She couldn't just up and leave, that would be selfish, and possibly irresponsible.

She walked home, having no one drive her home, she had almost gotten raped, and she had gotten molested. By a guy who could have easily killed her. When she got home her mother was on her feet leaning against the sink merely wearing nothing but a small tank top, and very small underwear with lace all over it. Jennifer's black hair cascaded down her back, it was half wet and half dry.
